Where ZapSketch fits

ZapSketch alongside Bluebeam, AI takeoff and Accubid

Bluebeam, Drawer AI and Accubid are established tools with far more breadth. ZapSketch starts from the home run: measure it, size it, then price it and hand it off, for a lot less.

Competitor details from public product pages and listings, October 2026. Bluebeam, Revu, Drawer AI, Trimble and Accubid are trademarks of their owners.

Using Bluebeam?

Keep it for markup and RFIs. Bring the plan into ZapSketch when you need the wire and conduit for each home run.

Using an AI takeoff?

Let it count devices. Use ZapSketch to check the long runs it routes before you order the copper.

Using Accubid?

Size the runs in ZapSketch, then carry the lengths and conductor sizes into your estimate. For smaller jobs, estimate in ZapSketch and export to Excel.

Questions

Before you start

What does the free export look like?

The marked-up plan exports with a watermark, and the commercial pull and calculation details are redacted. Planning, sizing and checks are not limited.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Monthly plans stop at the end of the month. Yearly plans run to the end of the year you paid for.

Is it code-compliant?

ZapSketch checks your design against NEC 2023 tables and shows the inputs and code section behind every result, so you can stand behind it. Compliance is decided on the job, so follow all applicable codes and regulations.

Does it work for residential?

Yes. Most houses have no plan, so sketch the rooms with typed wall lengths and place the devices. The estimate turns the sketch into a material list, labor and a price, and a customer proposal PDF.

Is estimating free?

Free during beta. Estimates, the Device Library, the library workbook and proposals are included on the Free plan while they are in beta. They may become a paid feature later, and we'll say so before that changes.

Are the prices and labor hours real?

They are starting points. The starter catalog's prices and labor units are placeholders, not market prices or published labor units. Type your own prices and hours, or import a distributor's price file, before an estimate goes to a customer.

What is the Device Library?

Your devices, the parts they install with, and your prices. Edit the built-in devices, make your own with a symbol and a recipe of parts, and every placed copy and estimate follows. Move it all through an Excel workbook, or update prices from a distributor's .xlsx or .csv file.

Which code does it use?

NEC 2023. The code profile is shown on every project.

Do I need a plan PDF?

No. Import a PDF if you have one, sketch the walls and rooms if you don't, or draw freeform on a blank sheet and type in the run lengths you know.
